New House “Before”– Part 2

I’m excited to show you the inside of our new house! Check out the “before” tour of the outside if you missed it!
Picking up where we left off – coming in the front door with the dreamy windows…

All of the common living space on the first floor has this amazing handmade Mexican tile. Apparently when they make it, they lay them out in fields to dry in the sun, and so we’ve even found a few paw prints embedded in tiles throughout the house! Seriously cool. I’m completely obsessed with them! So anyways – there are two bedrooms off to the right of the front door.

To the left of the front door are the stairs leading to two bedrooms on the second floor. The kitchen is past the stairs.

The stairs and the landing are clad with reclaimed old barn wood.

Straight ahead from the front door is a passageway to the living room with a wet bar.

The wet bar is a funny combination of the reclaimed wood and late 80’s wallpaper/gold/mirrors. We have plans to close it off here and incorporate it into the kitchen so the liquor display won’t be the first impression anymore :)

Sadly there is teal paint all over the beautiful tile, but after some investigating I think it’ll clean up just fine actually.

Look, even the utility door is cute!

Then heading into the living room –

Amaaaaaazing, right? That tile perfectly imperfect tile, the fireplace with built-in bookshelves, tall peaked ceilings, and 3 pairs of french doors. Is this real life?

To the left is the dining room –

The wallpaper’s coming down of course, but I think these moldings will be stunning once everything is painted! Does this house remind anybody else of Beauty and the Beast?

The kitchen is through that door in the recessed section.

One pair of french doors leads to the patio and the other goes to the sunroom.

The sunroom is great because it has 6 pairs of french doors! Craziness. The neighbors told us that it used to be a covered porch but one of the previous owners enclosed it.

The beadboard ceiling was installed in a cool pattern.

And who doesn’t love brick walls?

Heading into the massive kitchen –

Most of the cabinets are staying, but we will be reconfiguring their layout a little bit and repairing and repainting them. We’re also relocating the fridge and removing the walls and upper cabinets around the wood beam so that area will either be a big open peninsula or a second island with bar stools.

 photo WoodleyKitchen013_zpsxfkbww4q.jpg

These are two huge pantry cabinets that are really sweet.

 photo WoodleyKitchen020_zpsg5avvvbo.jpg

I wasn’t sure at first about having the range in the middle island, but since there’s enough other counter space I think it’s probably pretty great for entertaining.

The other side of the peninsula is the breakfast room.

There’s also a recessed nook with another reclaimed beam that I love. I’m thinking it might be a good spot for a built-in banquette!

 photo WoodleyKitchen043_zpsadia5bge.jpg

I wish I had a better picture to prove it, but it really is the best view out these windows of the courtyard. So peaceful.

 photo WoodleyKitchen060_zpsizhm6kim.jpg

Off the kitchen is the laundry/mudroom (washer and dryer are behind me in this picture). The garage is through the (very dirty) door to the right. Then there’s a powder room off the laundry.

I wish I had a prettier picture to end this post on, but I’m going to have to continue the “before” tour next time with the bedrooms!
